The stark truth about new beginnings

New beginnings. Clean slate. Reset. Does it exist in this side of the world?

I mentioned quite a bit in the previous post of Pressing reset regarding why we desire for reset. However, the unanswered question at the end of the post strike me with an answer this evening while I crossed the road.

I realized such things do not exist within the human relationships.

With imperfect forgiveness, a tendency to remember pain and selfish disposition etched in the human nature, such a thing is incapable of existing. Life with regards to human relationships is more like a book. You can start on a new page, clean and unblemished; but the records are already archived in the chapters before. Those people you have hurt will remember you and vice versa.

Our best hope for forgiveness and new beginnings would be God and his miracle detergent. As for humans?

Pray hard for amnesia.

  1. hey! haha yeah sometimes i really wan amnesia too in certain areas of my past..dun wan to rmb them at all..but there are also certain areas where i wana keep!! so maybe its a balance thing..haf to haf both sides of the story..haha..

  2. funny how we often remember the good things we have done, and forget the not-so-nice things about ourselves.
(eg.war atrocities? what war atrocities? i don’t rmb them at all..)

haha. im not so much referring to myself. More concerned about making people forget me…. then again, allowing me to forget some things may be good as well. Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind… anybody?

Wow, you are a rare tagger, how can i not reply your COMMENT. haha.

My initial response was to agree with you. Upon futher thought, I find myself begging to differ. Actually, if any of us have a decent amount of conscience left in us, we would remember our failures, mistakes and let downs… that is why people often feel more discouraged and depressed then self justified.

However, i believe the part which you said about remembering our good deed would be better expressed as only choosing to showcase our saintly side to others. Well, that is rather natural as we would like others to have a good impression of us. But for us (meaning ourselves) to forget the mistakes we make? I think thats slightly more difficult. It will require either a numbed conscience, a high degree of self denial, a serious case of amnesia or a combination of any of the above. lol.

  5. HEY IM A RARE TAGGER TOO!..hahah!!!
