Disappointment: the precise way of measuring our faith
I have (perhaps) come to realize how to benchmark faith tangibly.
Our faith is not only measured in our beliefs, but in our disappointments. Disappointment fundamentally stems from failed expectations. We get disappointed because we place our faith in something we trust. We can say that we truly believe in somebody, but that can be merely lip service. True faith is only reveal in the presence of disappointment. This is why our enemies never disappoint us; we expect only that much (or that little).

Hence, only those who are disappointed with God can profess to have truly placed their faith in Him. Not that God ever fails, just that our expectations are flawed to begin with. How can we say that we believe in God’s healing powers yet not be disappointed when the ill are not healed? Either we are really mature, or we did not expect the healing to occur in the first place. Come to think of it, it is little wonder why children cry easily; their child-like faith made them easily disappointed by the numbed adults around them.
Faith asks for the gambles of undiluted joy or intense sorrow. She would have none of that in-between nonsense.

Thanks for the post!
after your post, my faith in God has increased a lot more.
Now i know why i cried when i wasn’t healed.
But now , i’m COMPLETLY healed :))
This is very true. Disappointments are indeed a measurement of our faith. I would rather phrase it this way:
Disappointments help us shape our thoughts and focus the energies of our logical being.
I would have thought the opposite. In that ‘God does what Hes wills’, disappointment is a sign of our lack of faith that there is more to our creation than our material life.

Hey! this is your second time here right? haha, thanks for the comment. =)
“Deviation from the truth”… hmmm…. i’ll mull over that just a bit more…

Yeap, you brought up the other perspective. Actually, I covered that under..
“Either we are really mature, or we did not expect the healing to occur in the first place”
Your perspective would be true when we are fully matured in Christ. However, i was addressing those who did not expect it yet gloss over it with the “It is God’s will” excuse..
Thanks for your input by the way!
hahahahas, you know what… the content of your entry was exactly what i’ve thought some days ago.. i was also thinking about disappointments is a way to measure our faith.. (: so “qiao”!! =D
great post!
“Faith asks for the gambles of undiluted joy or intense sorrow”
I like how you put it.
hello , remember me?
learned a lot thru ur postings
continue to update so that i can learn more
Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
should read the whole of hebrews 11 -12 for better contextual understanding.

Haha, Yea, thats the exact definition of faith. Just that “faith” the word has been used rather loosely and im just trying to differentiate between those that really have faith, and those that merely talk about it. =)
yea definitely. its always good to deliberate about the things of God, and let the Holy Spirit guide us through Scriptures.
well for the example of healing, maybe though physically people will not be healed, but in their hearts, their spirits, they could be healed if they learnt to trust God beyond the present self.
