Finding Your Place

There are three kinds of people in any organizations/church/group.

There are the swordsmen – people who are close combat experts. These are the people who fixed their eyes on what is near and concentrate on solving them. Their focus is often micro, detailed and limited. They usually cannot see beyond what they are currently fighting.

Then there are the archers – The ranged specialists. Their eyes are fixed on what on the horizons and can often see beyond the swordsmen. They deal with danger before it arrives, saving much time and trouble. However, because of their focus on the distant, they tend to be oblivious to things beside them. Their sights are set on the macrons, the generals and whatever their vision permits them to see.

Last but not the least, there is the cavalry – people who aren’t particularly focused on anything other then getting to their destination quickly. Their sights are generally distant, yet without a permanent focus. Thought they may be guilty of rushing through many sights, they are the ones whom traversed the most distance.

An effective army needs all three types of people; a leader ought to be well versed in all three arts.

What kind of soldier are you?

  1. Ohoh, I particularly enjoy this post.
    Been going about a _war_ streak recently, and being excited about such.

    I guess I’m more of a archery-calvary person. I love to go fast while being able to look out on what I’m running into in the far rather than being slow and steady, keeping watch on what’s right in front of me. (cause by _right_ it should have been taken care of while I was looking out, yet by _left_ we all know how surprises tend to happen by themselves and we call that in the arcade game as “AMBUSH!” Haha!)

    • Haha, no David, that isn’t a combination. It’s just reinforces that you are a “Cavalry” person. Remember that I’ve pointed out that

      “Their sights are generally distant…”

      Most cavalry people generally (kinda) have the eyes of an archer. You see, I gave this concept quite a bit of thought before I typed it out. It’s definitely not exhaustive, but still, relatively detailed. =)

      Regardless of which, one thing is for sure. Too much Sangokushi Taisen 3 for me and you!

  2. Haha..David brought up a interesting combination of soldiers and that brings up another possibility so zach what kind of soldier do you think you are?

  3. haha. immediately when i read this post.. i knew it had the san guo game thingy invovled.. the archers,horse,and swordsmen.haha. and after reading.. it does make sense! :D

  4. Point taken! Haha! Of course, the million dollar question is still posted by Daniel, what kinda of soldier do you think you are zach?

    • Well, if I can perceive all 3 roles, then I won’t have the excuse of ignorance to blindly stick to one.

      So I believe it is my responsibility to be well versed in all three.

  5. i think of

    swordsmen = preachers
    archers = intercessors
    calvary = church planters/missionaries
