but gossip may not always be guided by conscious reason? sadly?
Well, perhaps you might have just found yourself enforcing the above point when you intentionally sign off without your name?
It doesn’t help when it is anonymous because even if one wants to take the comment serious and react accordingly, one cannot find the subject of response to. Comments comes without the authority of a name, without accountability of a person, are as good as words of a mad man – Words that have no substantial value. The only people who are affected by it, influenced by it or believe in it, are people who are as shallow as the nature of the comment.
Then again, anonymous comments probably doesn’t aim to help the person anyway. If that’s the case, why bother so much about them?
I hope this is the last time I have to respond to an anonymous comment, rather then the commenter. Would love to respond to you as a person! =)
anonymous comments such as that may not require accountability… if they are sincere statements of clarifications? what i assume you are referring to requiring accountability would be remarks that qualify as gossip? (which is the premise of your argument, if the title is an accurate context of the quote)
but i can concede this argument brings one nowhere far or substantial (: the comment is only made in defense of “gossipers” who make careless remarks but are not necessarily unwilling to account for it.
anw, i come as an interested reader, not flaming or what haha. your blogposts are pretty insightful yup. a curious thought though; you can respond to anonymous as an (unnamed) person, i dont really understand how anonymous or not affects the content of the comment (:

Hey! Yeah, I also think I didn’t explain that point out thoroughly out in my comment above. I think both you and “random” above, have given me much to think about.
