Why do all good things come to an end?

-song lyrics from Nelly Furtado’s All good things (come to an end)

All good things come to an end to make way for bad things to start…. Duh. However, an interesting point to note is that by asking the above question, you have already agreed to two fundamental understanding.

First and foremost, there are good things and there are bad things. Second assumption that you would have unknowingly acknowledged is that these good things or bad things are not forever. They have a beginning, they have an end.

Now, back to the previous answer, good things come to an end for the bad things to begin. Yet if we were to take into account the above understanding, the reverse must be proportionally true to the similar extent; all bad things come to an end for good things to happen. So why is it that we question the former when we have already understood the latter?

Perhaps there is something that is inbuilt within us to appreciate goodness in this world. Hence the next only logical question that should be posed is the universal mystery of “Why?”
