Allow me to redefine our typical perspective on first love.
First crush. First relationship. First kiss. Current spouse – for the lucky or not so lucky ones. These are just some of the things that come to our mind when we think about our first love.
Contrary to popular belief, first love is a not necessarily a chronological sort of description, but rather, a priority based kind of description. That would mean that your first love does not describe the person you begin your maiden romantic journey with, but the person that you would prioritise as the first; the most important in your life; your first love.
Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love.
(Revelations 2:4) NIV
Few would have love Jesus as our chronological first love, perhaps our parents would have been the more natural choice. However, the question relevant to us today would be:
By the alternate definition, is He still your first love?
