Do you know the difference between a leader and a manager?
The manager brings the group somewhere.
The leader brings the group somewhere new.
As a leader, we are not called to be contended with status quo. We are never placed in a position of power to keep things dormant, but to venture upwards! No coach is ever employed to keep the team at it’s current league position; Juande Ramos was not signed to keep Totterham at 18th.
As leaders in church, this is all the more important for we are leading people to significant places. We must not be caught up in the weekly cell group-leading, but rather, truly leading the cell group somewhere new – the promise land.
Tour guides bring people to places. Explorers lead people beyond horizons. Let’s not be the tour guides; the pseudo leaders.
